Program Description:

Recent surveys indicate over half of tax practitioners have not yet filed an Employee Retention Credit (ERC) claim on Form 941. Over 75% have not yet filed a retroactive claim on Form 941-X.

What’s the holdup? For many, it’s lack of command and working knowledge of the ERC rules. Another tricky part is how ERC, in competition for the same wages, interplays with PPP. Others do not fully appreciate the opportunities for ERC refunds.

In this course, we’ll sort it all out for you and put you in command of how to push it all through with confidence and maximize both PPP forgiveness and ERC.

Highlights – Complete examples of:

  • Congress’s new Infrastructure Bill elimination of 4Q 2021 ERC
  • Recovery startup businesses – The only ERC game in town for 4Q 2021
  • What is a recovery startup business?  It might be broader than you think
  • Detailed chart of exactly which payroll costs qualify for PPP vs. ERC
  • Exactly how drop in gross receipts tests met (including safe harbors)
  • C or S Corp shareholders (and their relatives) wages for ERC – Who’s in, who’s out?  How IRS made a real fist fight out of it
  • Scenarios qualifying for partial suspension/more than a nominal portion
  • Does teleworking spoil the pie for partial suspension?
  • Aggregation rules – Examples of parent sub, brother/sister, combined or affiliated service groups
  • The distinction between “nominal portion” and “modification” that has America befuddled
  • Computational examples shown on Forms 941 and 941-X
