In this 3-hour series, we’ll discuss a step-by-step process on how to develop your mission, vision, critical success factors, and key performance indicators.

Strategy Series 1: The High-Performing Accounting Business:   This 3-part series will help you leverage some of the common practices in large successful businesses so you can build your small business success strategy.  The starting point is to develop your mission, vision, values, and purpose statements.  Everything else flows from these foundational strategy documents.

After completing this course, you’ll be able to:

  • List the steps in the methodology I’ll be using in this strategy series to create the culture for a high performing small business
  • Define the components of a good mission statement
  • Describe the difference among missions, vision, values, and purpose statements

Strategy Series 2: CSFs for Your Accounting Business:   The large companies use a secret weapon to help them stay on track: critical success factors.  If you read any of the business books about CSFs, you might find them cumbersome and wordy like I do.  I’ll share a concise, geared-to-small-business approach to CSFs so we can use this amazing tool in our businesses without the overhead and politics of a large firm implementation.  After completing this course, you’ll be able to:

  • Define critical success factors
  • List at least two CSFs that can be used in accounting firms
  • Describe the difference between CSFs and KPIs

Strategy Series 3: KPIs for Your Accounting Business: Ahh, KPIs (key performance indicators) are so misunderstood in accounting.  Vendors want you to rush to use their dashboards, but that’s the last step in corporate KPI strategy development.  Don’t be surprised if most great KPIs are non-financial.  In this session, we’ll create KPIs for our small accounting businesses.  After completing this course, you’ll be able to:

  • Define key performance indicators
  • List at least two KPIs that can be used in accounting firms
  • Name several resources you can use to find out more
