[Survey Results] What Do You Miss Most and Will Try to Do First Once the Shelter-in-Place Orders Have Been Lifted?

We recently conducted a poll on the Accountant’s Accelerator Facebook group asking our members what they’ve missed the most and will try to do first once the shelter-in-place orders that states have placed on their residents are lifted.

Here are the top results:

Visit your hairstylist/ barber

An overwhelming majority voted that the first thing they would do is visit their hairstylist and barber. For some U.S. residents, shelter-in-place orders were put into place over a month ago and many non-essential businesses, including hair salons and barber shops, were forced to close. Whether your hair has grown into an unmanageable mess or you’re in dire need of a touch-up, visiting your local barber or hairstylist once shelter-in-place orders are lifted will get you back to looking like your usual, well-groomed self.

Eat at your favorite restaurant

Many voted that they would visit their favorite restaurant as soon as shelter-in-place has been lifted. If you’re tired of having to cook every day and your taste buds have grown weary of the same few dishes, then it only makes sense to want to treat yourself and take a trip to your favorite restaurant! You want your first taste of freedom to be one you can absolutely indulge yourself in and enjoy. Or maybe you’d just like to show your support to one of your favorite local businesses; it’s very likely they took a financial hit due to the shelter-in-place order as well.

Go to the gym

There are plenty of workout routines and exercises you can do at home, but if you have a usual gym routine that involves equipment you don’t have or you have a personal trainer, you may just feel like your home workouts just aren’t cutting it. If you’re someone who loves staying active, fit, and healthy, the gym is undoubtedly one of the places you missed the most and will be one of your first stops once shelter-in-place orders are lifted.

Have a spa day

Being stuck inside your house for a long period of time is stressful and can take a toll on your mental health. What better way to relax than to treat yourself to a little pampering as soon you’re no longer stuck at home and businesses start opening up again? Facials, massages, manicures, and pedicures are a great way to just de-stress.

Of course, there are many other activities and places that have been sorely missed during these difficult times, including watching sports and going to a sports game, catching a movie at the theaters, going to Disney World, or just going on a much-needed vacation.

What do you plan to do as soon as shelter-in-place orders are lifted?
